Profile
I am Regional Food safety and Quality Officer for Africa at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Regional Office for Africa (RAF), Accra, Ghana. Prior to joining RAF, I was seconded by the government of Canada to FAO, Rome, Italy to provide high-level expertise in the area of scientific advice regarding various aspects of food safety and quality.
Before joining FAO, Rome, he worked at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) in the Policy and Program Branch as a national Specialist, Food Microbiology and in the Science Branch as Chief of the risk prioritization and profiling unit. I led the development of the CFIA’s risk prioritization and profiling process and the abattoir component of the Canadian Integrated Program on Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance (CIPARS). I have a strong industry experience as the Technical Director of the Canadian Meat Council (CMC), the largest Canada’s federally registered meat packers and meat processors.
I have significant academic research and teaching experience. I started my career in 1989 as lecturer at the University of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso and subsequently served as Invited Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa, Ontario and INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier, Laval, Quebec.
